Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Information

Location: Kingwood, TX

• Unit Details:
  • Number of Beds: 4 OBED stretchers, 7 Antepartum Beds, 10 labor beds, 2 LDOR rooms, 2 LD PACU bays
  • Number of Staff: 79
  • Patient Ratios:
    • OBED: 1:2-4 (depending on acuity)
    • Antepartum Unit: 1:2-4 (depending on acuity)
    • Labor and Delivery Unit: 1:1-2 (depending on acuity)
• Type of Equipment: Bedside ultrasounds, dopplers, fetal monitors, infant warmers, OR equipment, labor beds, sterile vaginal tables, glucometers
• Electronic Medical Record System: Meditech, GE CPN Centricity

Qualifications

Required Skills:

• Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience (after orientation)
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, AWOHNN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring, and NRP
• Experience with Magnesium Sulfate and Oxytocin drips management
• Knowledge of insulin drip management (occasional)

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in Transition Care Nursing (TCN) of neonates is advantageous

Procedures Performed

• Sterile vaginal exams
• Fetal Scalp Electrode (FSE) / Intrauterine Pressure Catheter (IUPC) placement
• Circulating for Cesarean Sections
• Non-Stress Tests (NSTs)
• Oxytocin Induction/Augmentation
• Magnesium Sulfate therapy for Preeclampsia and Fetal Neuroprotection
• Insulin drip titration

Work Schedule

• Weekend Shifts: 4 shifts during a scheduling period of 4 weeks

Dress Code

• Scrubs: Royal Blue tops and bottoms

Unit Guidelines

• Follow attendance policy
• Meet scheduling commitments
• Be aware that shifts may be canceled up to 2 times during a 13-week contract depending on patient census
