ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Unit Specifics

• Number of Beds: 10
• Patient Ratios: 2:1, 3:1
• Available Staff: Clinical Nurse Coordinators (CNC), RNs, Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), Nurse Externs
• Type of Equipment: Philips Telemetry, Baxter pumps, iMobile, Ventilators, glucometer
• Documentation System: Meditech Expanse
• Scheduling Requirements: Every other weekend, three 12-hour shifts
• Floating Policy: May float to Progressive Care Unit (PCU), 3rd floor, or Emergency Department (ED)

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years experience in an ICU setting
• Active nursing license in good standing (KY/Compact license)
• BLS and ACLS certifications are required

Required Skills

• CPAP and BiPAP management
• Port access and therapeutic phlebotomy
• Preferred experience with: chest tubes, NG tubes, wound vacs, drains, post-dialysis assessments, central lines, blood transfusions, ventilators

Procedures Performed on Unit

• Telemetry monitoring
• Paracentesis (physician led)
• BiPAP
• Therapeutic phlebotomy

The unit is home to several travelers who have extended their contracts due to excellent teamwork and supportive staff. Strong communication and collaboration among interdisciplinary teams are highly valued.

Dress Code

Required uniform: Navy or gray scrubs.
