ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

This position involves providing high-quality care in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU). Candidates will be responsible for managing critically ill patients and ensuring adherence to the highest standards of patient care.

Unit Highlights

• Shift Details: 7A-7:30P / 7P-7:30A
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Weekend Requirement: Rotating
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
• Floating Requirement: All travelers are required to float as per unit policies

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a strong critical thinking ability and the following qualifications:

• Minimum of 2-3 years of ICU experience
• ACLS and BLS certifications
• NIH Stroke Certification

Preferred qualifications include:

• Experience in MICU & MSICU
• Exposure to IABP and CRRT
• Familiarity with Meditech documentation system

Unit Procedures

Common procedures performed in the unit include:

• Chest tubes and GI scopes
• Intubations and insertion of central and arterial lines
• NG tubes, Foley catheters, and dressing changes

Dress Code

All staff must adhere to the following dress code:

• Scrub color: Navy scrub top and pant, navy or white scrub jacket
• Nail policy: Clean and healthy
• Hair: Neat and clean without extreme styles or colors
• Facial hair: Must be clean and neatly trimmed
• Tattoos: Should be covered whenever possible
• Piercings: Visible piercings other than ears are prohibited

Unit Policies

• Attendance and punctuality are crucial; clock-in time is at 6:38 AM/PM (considered tardy after 6:45)
• Badging in and out for each shift is required, along with a full 30-minute lunch break
