General Information

This position is within a specialized Burn Intensive Care Unit (BICU) that provides exceptional care for adult patients with burn injuries. The unit features a total of 6 beds, with patient ratios that vary based on acuity levels. The staffing model includes Registered Nurses (RNs), Nurse Externs, Paramedics, and a Charge Nurse, ensuring a robust support structure for patient care.

Unit Specifics

• Number of Beds: 6
• Patient Ratios: Varies on acuity; adult only
• Type of Equipment: Alaris IV Pumps, Hill-Rom beds, GE Cardiac monitoring equipment
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling Requirements: 3 weekend shifts in a 4-week scheduling period
• Floating Policy: Staff may float to similar units (ICU/PCU/CCU); agency staff will float first if needed
• Patient Care Philosophy: Uphold mission and values, emphasizing courtesy, respect, and patient-centered care

Required Qualifications

• Core Skills: ICU experience, burn experience preferred, BLS, ACLS, and TNCC certified
• Advanced Skills: NIH certification, CRRT training, proficiency in hemodynamic monitoring and drip titration
• Procedures: Line insertion, chest tube insertion, post-operative care, debridement, and dressing changes

Certifications Required

• BLS
• ACLS
• TNCC
• NIH Certification
• ABLS Certification (preferred, but not required)

Dress Code

• Navy blue scrub top
• Navy blue or black scrub pants
• Scrub jacket
• No T-shirts, hoodies, or sweatshirts
