Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering exceptional care to patients in the Emergency Department, utilizing the Nursing Process in accordance with state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies. This position requires critical thinking and clinical judgment to ensure the safe delivery of care to patients in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive patient assessments and effectively communicate findings.
• Administer medications and monitor for side effects.
• Maintain strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail in patient documentation.
• Demonstrate knowledge of safety standards, infection control, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Delegate patient care priorities based on the education and experience of the available staff.
• Oversee and direct assigned personnel in the delivery of patient care.
• Participate in continuing education to maintain clinical competencies.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required.
• Current certification in ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC is mandatory.
• NRP and ENPC certifications are preferred.

Additional Information

• Position is for the Emergency Department in a Level 3 Trauma facility.
• Patient to nurse ratio is 4:1.
• Candidate must be flexible to floating, primarily to ICU as needed.
• No specific scrub color requirement; any color scrubs are acceptable.
• EMR system used is MedHost (EDIS).
• Fingerprinting is required for all travelers.

Scheduling and Availability

• Night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM.
• Blocked scheduling is not approved; must be open to scheduling needs.
• Maximum RTO is 1 request per schedule, with considerations for blackout dates during summer and winter based on department needs.
