Location: Salem, VA

Emergency Department

General Information

• Number of Beds: 27
• Number of Staff: 50 RNs, 25 Medics
• Day Shift Staffing: 1 Charge Nurse, 5 RNs, 2-3 Medics; increases by 4-5 RNs at 11 AM and 1-2 RNs at 3 PM
• Night Shift Staffing: 1 Charge Nurse, 5 RNs, 2-3 Medics
• Patient Ratios: 4-6:1
• Type of Equipment: EMR – Meditech

Qualifications

• Must have:
  • Completion of 2-3 travel assignments
  • 2-3 years of Emergency Room experience
• Preferred:
  • Experience in high acuity Emergency Rooms
  • Experience in fast-paced environments with high patient volume
  • Experience with patient ratios of 5:1

Typical Procedures

• Rapid Sequence Intubation (RSI)
• Sepsis interventions
• Stroke protocol with tPA administration
• Central line placement
• Care of psychiatric patients
• Transfers to other facilities (EMTALA)

• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS
• TNCC (Preferred)
• ENPC (Preferred)
• NRP (Preferred)

Work Schedule

Weekends require four weekend shifts within a four-week scheduling period (Friday or Saturday for nights; Saturday or Sunday for days). There is no on-call requirement.
