Position Purpose

To coordinate and implement an individualized plan of care for each patient utilizing the nursing process, while practicing within the scope, standards, policies, values, and mission of the organization.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans based on assessment to optimize outcomes and resources.
  • Utilize prioritization and critical thinking skills, demonstrating decisive judgment while working with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comply with triage, treatment, evaluation, and documentation guidelines.
  • Employ evidence-based practices to collaborate with the healthcare team, providing quality outcomes and coordinating patient care, including transfer, discharge, referral, and support needs.
  • Identify barriers to effective communication considering psychosocial, literacy, financial, and cultural factors.
  • Assess patient and family learning needs and provide education suitable to age, culture, condition, and circumstance.
  • Delegate patient care effectively to ancillary personnel and may precept student nurses and new hires.
  • Practice according to professional and ethical standards as per ANA Code of Ethics and the state Nurse Practice Act.
  • Demonstrate caring attitudes and behaviors to foster therapeutic relationships and engage in patient and family teaching as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, adhering to departmental, state, and federal standards.
  • Follow infection control, safety, and risk management procedures to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age (21 for positions requiring driving, with a valid driver’s license).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
  • Must complete an Employee Health meeting prior to starting employment.

Education, Licensure(s), and Certification

  • Current and active state Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact license. (Required)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or obtained within ninety (90) days of hire). (Required)
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (or obtained within six (6) months of hire). (Required)
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification (or obtained within one (1) year of hire). (Required)
  • Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification (or obtained within one (1) year of hire). (Required)
  • Current STABLE certification (or obtained within one (1) year of hire). (Required)
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (or obtained within one (1) year of hire). (Required)
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing, Healthcare Administration
