Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Room

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 101
• Patient Ratios: 4:1 typically; up to 7:1 on ED behavioral holds
• Unit Staffing: Technicians available for cardiac monitoring and internal processing; unit clerks on days and nights
• Type of Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
• Documentation System: Cerner

Scheduling Requirements

Schedules are based on department needs, with a requirement to work every other weekend. Candidates must be flexible regarding floating within all sections of the Emergency Department.

Certifications Required

• ACLS before starting date
• BLS before starting date
• PALS before starting date
• TNCC before starting date
• CPI before starting date
• NIHSS before starting date
• ENPC within 90 days of hire

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required
• At least 1 year of experience in an Emergency Room setting
• Experience in a Level II trauma center and/or comprehensive stroke center preferred
• Previous experience with high-volume emergency departments (over 100,000 visits annually) is preferred
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and provide real-time feedback
• Flexibility to work in all areas of the Emergency Department

Required uniform: Navy scrubs
