Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

The Registered Nurse in the Adult Cardiac Operating Room plays a critical role in the care of patients undergoing complex cardiac procedures. This includes a variety of surgical interventions such as Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG), Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), and heart failure treatment options including Ventricular Assist Devices (VADs), Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), artificial hearts, and heart transplants. The nursing team operates using a multidisciplinary approach to provide care for patients of all ages.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently scrub and circulate complex adult cardiac cases, including CABGs, structural heart procedures, minimally invasive surgery, and heart failure cases.
• Assist in the preparation and management of the operating room environment.
• Collaborate with multiple healthcare disciplines to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Monitor patient conditions and provide interventions as necessary throughout the surgical process.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse License (New York License ONLY).
• Two (2) years of nursing experience required.
• Operating room experience in a level 1 trauma setting is preferred.
• Ability to both circulate and scrub during surgical procedures.
• Telemetry experience preferred, provided the healthcare provider holds Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association ONLY.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association ONLY.

Work Schedule

This position requires a commitment to a 12-hour shift from 7 AM to 7 PM.
