Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Cardiac ICU team. This position involves providing exceptional care to critically ill patients in a fast-paced environment.

Job Details

• Unit: Cardiac ICU
• Unit Type: Cardiovascular Intensive Care
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Years of Experience Required: 2 years
• Common Diagnoses: Fresh open hearts and mixed ICU patients
• Bed Capacity: 30 beds
• Patient Ratios: Typically 1:1 to 1:2
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend; holiday requirement may be requested
• Scrub Color: Navy

Shift Information

• Shifts: 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Schedule: Self-scheduling with six weeks advance notice, subject to managerial approval
• Floating: May float to telemetry or medical-surgical units

Orientation and Training

• Unit Orientation: 1-day orientation specific to the unit
• Testing: Candidates will take a proctored Dysrhythmia Test on the first day, which is pass/fail

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred

Facility Support Services

• EMR System: Cerner
• Respiratory Therapy: Available 24/7
• Pharmacy: Available 24/7
• Hospitalist Coverage: Hospitalist available 24/7
• IV Team: Not available
• Nurse Aides: Not provided

Additional Notes

Candidates must have recent experience with fresh open hearts and mixed ICU patient care. Strong critical thinking and emotional resilience in high-stress situations are essential for this role.
