Physical Therapist

Shift Information

Available shifts are 8 or 9 hours per day, working 4 days per week.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s Degree from an accredited physical therapy program
  • Experience: Previous experience working directly with patients in a long-term care or hospital setting
  • Licenses/Certifications: Current Physical Therapist state license and Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Strong documentation skills, excellent verbal communication, ability to provide satisfactory patient services, team-oriented, and demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served

Position Summary

A Physical Therapist develops and implements rehabilitation programs aimed at helping patients regain their physical function following an injury or surgery. Additionally, they assist in managing or alleviating pain for patients with degenerative conditions or terminal diseases. Physical Therapists utilize various methods, including physical activity, massage, and musculoskeletal manipulation, to facilitate patient recovery. They collaborate with other therapists to ensure optimal patient outcomes, with the focus primarily on outpatient care.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with patients to assess their physical condition, symptoms, and medical history.
  • Diagnose movement dysfunction through patient observation and interaction.
  • Develop tailored treatment plans for individual patients.
  • Guide patients in therapeutic exercises and stretches to improve their conditions.
  • Utilize hands-on therapy, including massage, to relieve pain and promote healing.
  • Maintain detailed records of patient conditions, care plans, therapies, and progress.
  • Communicate patient progress and current status to families, healthcare providers, and care committees as appropriate.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Ensure confidentiality in all matters related to patients, families, and staff.
  • Interact with patients and families from diverse developmental and sociocultural backgrounds.
  • Provide information to reduce patient and family anxiety and foster an environment of acceptance and care.
  • Maintain professional relationships and effectively communicate with other healthcare team members.
  • Initiate communication regarding clinical priorities and security concerns with supervisors as necessary.

Teamwork

  • Accept assignments based on priority, competencies, and unit needs.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues to provide clinical assistance and complete tasks.
  • Report on patient conditions to relevant healthcare professionals.
  • Engage in problem-solving and conflict resolution to promote effective team dynamics.
  • Arrive on time and adhere to scheduled shifts.

Professional Development

  • Participate in in-service training, continuing education, and departmental meetings.
  • Contribute to annual reviews of peer performance as requested.
  • Actively respond to opportunities for improvement in patient care and customer service.
