Physical Therapist

Job Description

A Physical Therapist plans and implements rehabilitation programs to assist patients in regaining a higher level of physical function following accidents or surgeries. The role involves managing or alleviating pain caused by degenerative conditions or terminal illnesses. Physical Therapists use a combination of physical activity, massage, reflexology, and manipulation to help facilitate patient recovery.

Qualifications

• Education: Master’s Degree from an accredited physical therapy program.
• Experience: Clinical experience working directly with patients in long-term care or hospital settings.
• Licenses/Certifications: Current Physical Therapist state license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or the ability to obtain within six months of hire.

Primary Responsibilities

• Consult with patients to assess physical conditions and review medical histories.
• Diagnose movement dysfunction through patient observation and interaction.
• Develop personalized treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
• Coaching patients on therapeutic exercises and stretches to aid recovery.
• Utilize hands-on therapies, such as massage, to alleviate pain and promote healing.
• Maintain thorough documentation of patient conditions and treatment outcomes.
• Communicate patient progress and current status with relevant parties, including family members and healthcare providers.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Maintain patient and family confidentiality.
• Engage with patients and families from diverse sociocultural backgrounds.
• Provide information to alleviate patient anxiety while showing empathy and care.
• Foster professional relationships with other healthcare team members and share relevant information.

Shift Information

Shifts are typically 8 or 9 hours per day, across a schedule of four days per week.

Holiday Coverage

Holiday coverage is not required.

Experience Requirement

No minimum years of experience are required; less than one year is acceptable.
