Job Description:

Under the direction of the Director of Physical Therapy, the Physical Therapist is responsible for directing physical therapy services. The role involves coordinating and supervising department operations, administering physical agents as prescribed by a referring physician, and maintaining performance improvement activities. The Physical Therapist will also participate in continuous quality improvement activities, ensure competency of all personnel, and manage departmental budget and charging systems. Compliance with regulatory laws, standards, and protocols is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Professional behavior is demonstrated at all times, both on duty and externally.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with patients, visitors, and staff, demonstrating respect to managers.
  • Organize and manage time effectively, delivering products on time within the budget with minimal direction.
  • Compile and organize data using Microsoft Office applications; make recommendations or conclusions based on data.
  • Maintain organized records and deliver them upon request.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully to directors, managers, and coworkers, adhering to the chain of command.
  • Perform all assigned tasks accurately and effectively use office machines.
  • Manage phone calls and assist the public professionally and friendly.
  • Observe and evaluate treatment effect and recommend changes to physicians as needed.
  • Perform appropriate patient assessments related to the therapy requested and provided.
  • Assess patient pain and recommend intervention if it interferes with rehabilitation.
  • Perform patient care in a way that optimizes safety and reduces medical errors.
  • Formulate a teaching plan based on learning needs; involve the family as appropriate.
  • Treat patients and families with respect, addressing their psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs.
  • Manage and operate equipment safely and maintain department cleanliness.
  • Interact professionally with patient/family and involve them in the care plan.
  • Ensure patient needs are met and hospital policy is followed in patient care coordination.

Requirements:

  • Three (3) or more years of previous experience in physical therapy preferred.
  • Current California licensure or certification as a physical therapist.
  • Knowledge of physical therapy modalities, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes.
  • Knowledge of infection control, sterile techniques, and rehabilitative medicine benefits.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective communication with staff at all levels.
  • Exhibit team player behavior and respect for confidentiality and the time of others.
