X-Ray Technologist

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled X-Ray Technologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of x-ray procedures while ensuring patient care and safety throughout the process.

Responsibilities

  • Verify patients’ identity and review physicians’ orders before beginning procedures.
  • Utilize x-ray equipment to take radiographic images of patients’ bones, tissues, and organs as per physicians’ written orders.
  • Explain x-ray procedures to patients and address any questions or concerns they may have.
  • Position patients appropriately, which may involve lifting and moving those with limited mobility.
  • Handle all radiologic equipment safely, ensuring radiation dose is kept as low as possible.
  • Observe and interpret each patient’s status to meet their age-specific needs.
  • Produce high-quality diagnostic images for interpretation by the Radiologist.
  • Notify management promptly of any damaged or malfunctioning x-ray equipment.
  • Utilize electronic patient information systems to verify patient information and adhere to dual patient identifier procedures.
  • Maintain accurate patient record-keeping by properly identifying images and ensuring they are sent to the PACS system correctly.

Requirements

  • Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology and current certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Active New York State license or ability to obtain prior to starting.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as an X-Ray Technologist.
  • Experience in a Level 1 trauma center.
  • Ability to lift or move patients and stand for extended periods.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • A patient and compassionate disposition with a team-oriented approach.

Additional Information

  • Must be able to report within 30 minutes for on-call shifts as required, with approximately 2-3 call shifts per month.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Experience with C-arm/O-arm in the past 8 months is necessary.
  • Prior experience in an operating room setting is required.
