Job Description:

The Ultrasonographer performs all routine and specialized sonographic testing, covers emergency-call back, and performs all necessary clerical tasks to support patient testing.

Responsibilities:

• Supports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry.
• Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic general ultrasound examinations and procedures.
• Correlates the clinical history with the test to be performed.
• Uses sonographic skills to identify and record appropriate anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic images.
• Demonstrates responsibility for the safety, mental, and physical comfort of patients.
• Prepares patients for examinations and explains procedures to patients.
• Consults with the referring physician regarding the patient’s history to determine the appropriate procedure.
• Operates complex ultrasound equipment and records relevant data.
• Provides on-call emergency coverage as required by the department.
• Maintains pertinent records and EMR documentation.
• Monitors and evaluates equipment performance.
• Schedules General Ultrasound exams and coordinates with relevant departments.
• Verifies accuracy of medical diagnosis for all patient appointments.
• Maintains required licenses and certifications.

Requirements:

• Graduate of ARDMS school of sonography.
• License in the State of Maine.
• ARDMS registration required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Must have grayscale discrimination.
• Ability to work well in high-stress situations.
