Electrophysiology Monitor

Schedule

Primarily days with some late night shifts and on-call responsibilities as needed. Shifts may consist of either 4×10 or 3×12 hour arrangements.

Job Description

The Electrophysiology Monitor assists the Electrophysiologist during EP studies, ablations, and cardiac implants. While experience in cardiac implant or structural heart scrub is preferred, it is not required. Familiarity with Bloom stimulator is also preferred but not essential. Proficiency in implementing EP pacing maneuvers and a solid understanding of pacing modalities are required. The candidate must possess experience with the GE (MacLab & CardioLab) systems to assist in pacing maneuvers and measurements.

Within this role, the monitor collaborates with various vendors, including Carto, Abbott, Opal, and Affera, to set up procedures. Documentation during procedures is conducted using Epic, experience in which is preferred but not mandatory. Responsibilities include ensuring all required equipment and supplies are available, facilitating room turnover, and coordinating with the charge nurse and third-party vendors to ensure timely patient care and efficient procedure starts.

Job Requirements

  • Tech License: RCES, Radiologic Tech license, or RN License (valid in New York only)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field

Job Certifications

  • BLS certification (American Heart Association only)

Typical Procedures Performed

  • PFA and RF ablations (Cryo ablations) for Atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, atrial tachycardia, AV node reentrant tachycardia, Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, and other atrial nodal reentrant tachycardias.
  • Device implants, including traditional pacemakers (single, dual, CSP, BiV), ICDs, Subcutaneous ICDs, leadless pacemakers, loop recorders, and left atrial appendage closures such as Watchman and Amulet devices.
  • Other procedures, including laser interventions and low-risk heart rhythm evaluations.
