Radiologic Technologist

Position Overview

The Radiologic Technologist demonstrates proficiency in providing patient care appropriate to the age of individuals in their assigned unit. This role requires knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan, ensuring the ability to assess and interpret data reflective of each patient’s needs, while adhering to established policies and procedures.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Perform radiographic examinations of all body parts for diagnostic interpretation.
  • Exercise professional judgment in the performance of procedures, applying principles of radiation protection.
  • Maintain patient records and files accurately.
  • Assume responsibility for overseeing the departmental quality assurance program.
  • Pursue continuing education to remain current in the field.
  • Facilitate patient transfers to and from the radiology department.
  • In the absence of a supervisor, assume departmental responsibilities.
  • Rotate shifts as required to meet departmental needs.
  • Perform ancillary duties as requested by the supervisor.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures set forth by administration.
  • Maintain general hygiene of the department and oneself.
  • Work effectively in stress-inducing situations.
  • Be available for on-call duties and report to work promptly.
  • Willingness to learn other imaging modalities as determined by management.
  • Assist with invasive procedures and maintain equipment in designated areas.
  • Prepare for procedures, consult with referring physicians, and follow standard precautions.
  • Participate in inventory management and quality control activities.

Qualifications

  • Current ARRT certification in Radiography.
  • Clinical competency within three months of hire and repeated every three years.
  • Experience performing all diagnostic exams related to the assigned modality.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Tech I: ARRT certification in one modality (e.g., general radiography).
  • Tech II: ARRT certification in two modalities (e.g., CT, MR, MG, NM).
  • Tech III: ARRT certification in three modalities.
  • Tech IV: ARRT certification in four modalities.

Holiday coverage is required, and candidates should be prepared for various departmental requirements and responsibilities as assigned.
