Cardiac Clinic Registered Nurse (RN)

General Information

This opportunity is located in a cardiology clinic within a larger healthcare system. Candidates must reside more than 100 miles away from the facility to qualify for this position. Previous permanent staff must wait one full year before returning as travelers.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of clinic experience required; cardiology experience preferred.
• First-time travelers are not accepted, unless the candidate has at least 1 year of specific experience in a Cardiac/Cardiovascular clinic.

Patient Population

Candidates will provide care for patients with a variety of cardiac conditions, including but not limited to:

• General Cardiology
• Electrophysiology
• Vascular Surgery
• Arrhythmias
• Shortness of breath
• Referrals and cardiac clearances
• Hypertension
• POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome)
• Swelling
• CHF (Congestive Heart Failure) management
• Abnormal stress tests
• Pre/post catheterization patients

Work Environment

Candidates will see approximately 22 patients per day.

Required Certifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with BLS certification.

Education

Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing is required.

Skills and Qualifications

• Knowledgeable in cardiac diagnoses and able to provide education regarding these conditions.
• Ability to educate patients on cardiac medications.
• Comfortable providing education before and after cardiac procedures.
• Adept at identifying and flagging abnormal EKGs.
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system required within the last 1-2 years.
• Preference for candidates with cardiac clinic experience.

Support staff on the unit includes:

• EKG Technicians
• Clinical Assistants
• Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs)
• Lead Registered Nurse (RN)
• Nursing Manager (RN)
• Medical Doctor (MD)
• Advanced Practice Provider (APP)

Charting and Systems

• Electronic Medical Records: EPIC (experience required within the last 1-2 years).
• Medication Dispensing: Omnicell.

Scheduling and Orientation

• No weekend rotation required.
• Holiday expectations: 2 out of 4 holidays required, including the day after Thanksgiving.
• Time off requests must be approved by the manager.
• Orientation includes facility protocol as well as 3-4 days of side-by-side training with a nurse.
