Medical Surgical Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Job Description

The Medical Surgical Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for delivering delegated aspects of direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role involves performing various duties with accountability for patient safety and the quality of care provided.

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive patient care in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
• Perform physical assessments and collect patient data.
• Assist in the planning and implementation of patient care.
• Provide support with activities of daily living (ADLs) and patient education.
• Administer medications and oversee peripheral IV therapy.
• Participate in discharge planning and execute physician’s orders.
• Document patient care and outcomes accurately in patient records.
• Direct and supervise assigned personnel involved in patient care.

Qualifications

• Current LPN/LVN licensure and a minimum of one year of experience in a medical surgical setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required.
• IV certification preferred.
• Familiarity with Cerner or similar electronic health record systems preferred.
• Must reside 50 miles or more from the facility.

Shift Information

Position is for night shifts, 7 PM to 7 AM, over a period of 13 weeks.
