Certified Nurse Assistant (C.N.A)

Job Summary

The Certified Nurse Assistant (C.N.A) plays a vital role in assisting healthcare staff with the implementation of comprehensive care plans for residents and patients. This includes supporting activities of daily living, education, recreation, and transportation, in alignment with established nursing policies, procedures, and standards.

Reporting Structure

The C.N.A reports directly to the RN/LPN team leader and is committed to maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality while adhering to organizational policies and procedures.

Education Requirements

  • Must hold an active Maine C.N.A License

Required Skills

  • Assists residents/patients with daily living activities including feeding, bathing, ambulating, and skin care.
  • Demonstrates effective listening skills to support the needs of residents/patients.
  • Ability to take initial vital signs and provide weights to nursing staff timely.
  • Reports changes in vital signs or measurements promptly to the Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
  • Follows procedures for Universal Precautions consistently.
  • Monitors and records resident/patient intake and output in alignment with unit standards or physician orders.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding resident/patient information and upholds resident/patient rights.
  • Fosters productive working relationships with healthcare team members.
  • Exhibits teamwork, courtesy, diplomacy, and tact when interacting with others.
  • Provides additional care as directed by the RN/LPN.
  • Assists with the orientation of patients/residents and families to the unit and available services.
  • Delivers patient/resident care promptly and accurately as directed while adhering to the care plan.
  • Exhibits empathy towards residents, patients, and families.
  • Maintains objectivity in challenging circumstances, including interactions with demanding residents and patients.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in response to changing needs.
  • Seeks assistance and collaborates on problem-solving as needed.
  • Possesses a passion for providing exceptional care to long-term care residents and skilled rehabilitation patients.

Shift Information

This position entails working 40 hours per week across five 8-hour shifts, with holiday coverage required.

Minimum Years of Experience

3 years of relevant experience is preferred.
