Job Description:

To provide basic nursing care to non-acute and/or acutely ill residents while maintaining a safe and clean environment. Must have the ability to react in a calm functional manner and make sound judgments within the scope of duties when taking care of ill patients/residents and in the event of emergencies. Job requires lifting of patients/residents who are non-ambulatory on a regular interval. Mentally requires a caring attitude in dealing with both acute and non-acute patients/residents and families on a steady basis. Job pace is rapid and there is constant pressure on the job to complete nursing assignments and answer patient call lights. Maintain accountability for all actions taken. Accept delegation from supervising LN. This position is covered under the Indian Child Protection Act.

Responsibilities:

  • Obtain nursing data through interviewing and observing residents under a LN’s direction and review.
  • Document observation findings and provide general nursing care for adults and geriatrics.
  • Collect and transport specimens and report findings to the LN.
  • Provide bedside care, including positioning and transporting residents.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment, prepare nursing areas, and dispose of waste according to policies.
  • Perform ECGs, telemetry monitoring, and serve as preceptor to CNA staff and students.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year prior experience as a CNA preferred.
  • Current full, unrestricted CNA license in the state of Alaska.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Must take and pass courses specific to unit needs.
