Operating Room Technologist

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Operating Room Technologist to join our surgical team. This role is critical in ensuring efficient operations within the operating room, with a strong focus on patient safety and team collaboration.

Shift Details

• Shift Length: 10 or 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Varied days of the week
• Call: 1 shift per week and every 4th weekend

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Operating Room (OR)
• Number of Beds: 4 in main OR and 8 in pavilion
• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:1
• Common Diagnoses/Types of Patients:
  • Main OR: Primarily orthopedics (total hips, knees, joints)
  • Pavilion: Neuro and ortho spine, cardiovascular cases, general surgery, gynecology, urology, ENT

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Operating Room setting
• BLS Certification required
• Experience with Cerner Surginet EMR is preferred
• Ability to scrub is a plus but not required

Orientation and Training

New hires will undergo one week of paperwork orientation followed by one week of hands-on orientation with a designated preceptor to ensure familiarity with processes and protocols.

Additional Information

• Weekend Requirement: Not required
• Holidays: Covered by call
• Scrub Color: Provided by the hospital
• Number of Cases: 15-25 cases per day; approximately 400 per month
• Inpatient Cases: 20-25% of total cases
• Critical Patients: Direct transfer to ICU from OR
