OR Technician

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced OR Technician to join our surgical team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the operating room and possess the required certifications.

General Information

• Unit Type: OR (Operating Room)
• Shift Length: 10 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Charge Nurse: Yes (does not take patients/cases)
• Weekend Requirement: Not required
• Holidays Requirement: Covered by call
• Call: 1 shift per week, every 4th weekend
• Shifts: Variable start times between 6 AM and 9 AM; no evening or weekend shifts

Responsibilities

As an OR Technician, you will be responsible for assisting in surgical procedures and maintaining a safe and sterile environment. Key duties include:

• Collaborating with surgical teams during procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are available.
• Maintaining equipment and ensuring the operating room is properly prepared and cleaned between procedures.
• Following protocols for patient safety and infection control in the OR.
• Assisting in the management of patient care and safety during surgeries.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in the operating room.
• Certifications: BLS Certification required; COVID vaccine certification required.
• Technical Skills: Experience with Cerner Surginet preferred.
• Patient Types: Familiarity with orthopedic, neurological, cardiovascular, and general surgical cases is a plus.
• Floating: Not required.

Orientation

The selected candidate will undergo a comprehensive orientation period, consisting of one week of paperwork and one week partnered with a preceptor to ensure a smooth transition into the role.
