Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Job Description

A Respiratory Therapist is needed for a position offering 36 hours per week, comprised of three 12-hour shifts during the night. The schedule includes every other weekend and a rotating holiday requirement, with shifts starting at 1800 and concluding at 0630.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform routine therapies to assist in the treatment, diagnosis, and evaluation of cardiopulmonary status.
• Conduct emergency rounds, oxygen saturation checks, and titrate oxygen per established protocols during treatment rounds.
• Initiate, monitor, evaluate, and manage invasive and non-invasive ventilation, making parameter recommendations based on clinical assessment and laboratory values.
• Administer therapies in compliance with universal precautions, employing sound judgment in patient evaluations.
• Facilitate ongoing evaluation of treatment regimens, including medication delivery and oxygen administration, based on physician orders.
• Assess patients clinically before and after the administration of medications or procedures, recommending appropriate therapy adjustments.
• Monitor, educate, and document patients and their families regarding therapies, medications, and treatment goals.
• Demonstrate proficiency in setting up, calibrating, and troubleshooting mechanical ventilation equipment and performing therapeutic procedures.
• Respond to emergency situations within the facility, providing critical support in accordance with established guidelines.
• Transport patients on mechanical ventilation and critically ill patients for intra-facility procedures and testing.
• Deliver developmentally appropriate care to diverse patient populations, addressing age-related and cultural needs.
• Engage in community education events related to respiratory therapies and disease processes.
• Pursue self-development through continuing education and participation in in-service training to enhance respiratory care services.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program; education verification is mandatory.
• Active Wisconsin Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from The National Board for Respiratory Care.
• AHA Provider Level BLS certification.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.

Shift Information

Nights – Three 12-hour shifts from 1800 to 0630, with commitment to every other weekend and holiday coverage.

Minimum Years of Experience

Less than 1 year of experience is required.

Certifications / Requirements

• BLS/BCLS certification.
• NRP certification.
• RRT credential.
