General Information

  • Total Beds: 260-280
  • Accepts travelers with a minimum of 2 years experience
  • First-time travelers may be considered based on strong experience and manager review

Patient Types

Caring for patients in Pediatric Critical Care, Neonatal Critical Care, and general inpatient respiratory care is required. Preparation to care for NICU patients is necessary when requested, and NRP certification is mandatory.

Required Certifications

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required
  • Consideration for CRT based on experience
  • South Dakota RCP License (SDBMOE.gov) required before submittal
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
  • NRP certification required if working in NICU

Required Education

Associate of Arts Degree.

Required Skills

  • Critical Care experience
  • General respiratory care experience

Support on the Unit

Unit support includes Charge RT, Respiratory Clinical Specialist available 24/7, along with Supervisors, a Manager, and a Director.

  • EPIC (required)
  • Omnicell

Equipment Used

  • Draeger V500 and Savina 300 ventilators
  • 3100A Oscillator
  • Hamilton C1/MRI ventilators
  • ResMed APAP, CPAP, and Bi-level devices
  • Airvo2 High flow devices
  • Cough Assist and Incourage vest
  • ABL90 Blood gas machines
  • IPV and Praxair iNO

Floating Requirements

Respiratory Therapy coverage throughout the facility and Emergency Department. No floating to other facilities unless specifically hired for that purpose.

Orientation

Orientation will be conducted within the Respiratory Care Department.

Scheduling Information

  • Weekend rotation: Every other weekend
  • Holidays: Work on holidays that fall within contract dates
  • Time off requests: Up to 7 days may be requested if the department can accommodate, with extended contracts for full week requests
  • Approved time off does not waive contracted weekly hours. Travelers are expected to fulfill all guaranteed weekly hours, with additional flexibility possible for extension contracts
