General Information

Number of Positions Available: 3

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience preferred; may consider travelers with strong experience and 1 year of experience.
  • First-time travelers will be evaluated based on experience.

Patient Types

  • Pediatric Critical Care
  • Neonatal Critical Care
  • General Inpatient Respiratory Care

Required Certifications

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification is required.
  • Consideration for Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) depends on experience.
  • South Dakota RCP License (obtained prior to submittal).
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are required.
  • If working in NICU, must have NRP certification.

Required Education

  • Associate’s Degree in Health Sciences.

Skills Required

  • Critical Care experience.
  • General respiratory care experience.

Support on the Unit

  • Charge RT/Respiratory Clinical Specialist available 24/7.
  • Support from Supervisors, Manager, and Director.

Charting System

  • EPIC (required).
  • Omnicell.

Equipment

  • Draeger V500 and Savina 300 ventilators.
  • 3100A Oscillator.
  • Hamilton C1/MRI ventilators.
  • ResMed APAP, CPAP, Bi-level devices.
  • Airvo2 High Flow devices, Cough Assist, Incourage vest.
  • ABL90 Blood Gas machines, IPV, Praxair iNO.

Floating

RT Coverage throughout the hospital and Emergency Department. Staff will not float to external facilities unless specifically hired for that purpose.

Orientation

Orientation includes facility and unit training.

Scheduling

  • Weekend rotation: every other weekend.
  • Holiday Expectations: Must work on holidays that fall within contracted dates.
  • Time-off requests: Up to 7 days may be requested, depending on departmental needs. Full contracts must be extended for full week requests.
