Medical Assistant

Position Overview

This position is for local candidates and prefers experience with electronic medical records, specifically Epic.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Direct patient care:
  • Room patients, including obtaining vital signs and documenting reasons for visits, symptoms, frequency, and severity.
  • Document all required information in electronic medical records.
  • Administer injections and immunizations as ordered by the provider.
  • Assist during medical procedures.
  • Obtain all necessary patient information to meet regulatory obligations.
  • Track the receipt of results for all ordered tests.
  • Perform point-of-care testing (POCT) and all quality controls.
• Communication and correspondence:
  • Utilize electronic medical records and manage tasks to complete patient visits or requests.
  • Provide accurate information to patients regarding their questions and concerns.
  • Maintain patient records while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Complete referrals accurately and appropriately.
• Maintain patient areas and supplies:
  • Disinfect exam rooms between patients and clean all patient areas at the end of the day.
  • Assist with clinic upkeep, including daily cleaning, supply ordering, and inventory management.
• Scope reprocessing and sterilization:
  • Perform reprocessing of scopes and or probes after completing competency assessments in specialty clinics.
  • Ensure proper sterilization of instruments and use of autoclaves.
• General Duties:
  • Remain calm and effective in emergency or high-pressure situations.
  • Collaborate with team members on various ongoing projects.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all OSHA and safety regulations.
  • Work may be required in multiple locations.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate required.
• Licenses/Certifications:
  • Medical Assistant certification from an accredited program such as NHA or AMCA is required.
  • BLS Certification (American Heart Association) is required.
• Experience: At least one year of related medical assisting experience in a physician’s office or other clinical settings, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Re-processing and procedural experience is highly preferred.
