Shift Information

Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
- At least 1 year of experience in urgent care within the last 2 years.

Holiday coverage is required.
Certifications and Requirements
- Current National Medical Assistant Certification is mandatory.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Certifications such as RMA, CCMA, or CMA are necessary.
Job Description
The Certified Medical Assistant provides comprehensive care to patients of all ages in an ambulatory care environment. This role is crucial for maintaining efficient clinic operations and enhancing patient flow, ensuring optimal access to care. Responsibilities include performing administrative tasks, managing patient data, and handling basic clinical functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately collect and document information in patient charts, ensuring proper order and identification of all forms.
- Maintain current patient medication and immunization records.
- Recognize and respond to signs or symptoms that require prompt intervention.
- Facilitate patient transport within the facility as necessary.
- Demonstrate ability to effectively manage patient care duties and clinic flow.
- Report and document any changes in patient conditions or behaviors, unusual incidents, or safety breaches.
- Set up necessary equipment and supplies for routine exams and minor procedures.
- Prepare patients for procedures, treatments, and minor office surgeries, providing assistance as needed.
- Collect specimens and perform Point of Care Testing (POCT) as per protocols.
- Assist providers with immunizations and injections as directed, adhering to licensed scope of practice.
- Provide training and supervision to Clinical Assistant I and II positions.
Educational Requirements
A high school diploma or GED is required. A nursing degree from an accredited institution may be considered in lieu of the above certification requirements.
Skills and Knowledge
- Familiarity with clinic procedures related to patient visits and treatments.
- Understanding of age-appropriate vital signs and behaviors.
- Knowledge of life-saving procedures and medical terminology.
- Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.
- Ability to operate medical equipment, including blood pressure cuffs and EKG machines.
- Competence in using medical databases and electronic medical record systems.
Physical Demands
The role requires regular communication, frequent standing, walking, sitting, and using hands for reaching or manipulating objects. Lifting patients and pushing/pulling up to 25 lbs may be necessary.
Work Environment
The work environment is generally moderate in noise level, including office and healthcare settings with exposure to temperature variations. There may be potential contact with blood and body fluids during job-related tasks.
