Job Description:

The Surgical Technologist will provide technical knowledge in preparing instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures and assists the surgical team from the scrub position during an operation. Responsible for proper care and handling of instruments and facilitating room turnover between cases. Maintains sterile technique, safe handling of sharps, and performance of surgical counts as per hospital policy. Demonstrates proper handling of solutions and pharmacologic agents under the direction of a registered nurse.

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical knowledge in preparing instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures.
• Assist the surgical team from the scrub position during an operation.
• Ensure proper care and handling of instruments and facilitate room turnover between cases.
• Maintain sterile technique, safe handling of sharps, and performance of surgical counts.
• Handle solutions and pharmacologic agents under the direction of a registered nurse.

Requirements:

• NBSTSA Certification or 10 years of experience as a Surgical Technician.
• Two (2) years of recent experience in a cardiac OR.
• Able to scrub and circulate.
• BLS (American Heart Association ONLY).
