Surgical Technologist

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist to join our dynamic surgical team. The ideal candidate will have experience in scrubbing open heart procedures and will be adept at maintaining a positive and efficient working environment.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Medicine 3
• Location: Surgery
• City/State: Live Oak, TX
• Surgical Suites: 5 Operating Rooms

Staffing Overview

• Current Staffing:
  • 5 Full-Time RNs (including Manager and Boardrunner)
  • 2 Part-Time RNs (one on FMLA)
  • 3 PRN RNs (4 Open Reqs for FT nurses)
  • 12 Surgical Technologists
• Patient Ratios: 1:1
• Current Equipment: Basic OR equipment (cautery, video monitors, arthroscopy equipment, positioning equipment)
• Electronic Medical Records (EMR): Meditech

Responsibilities

The Surgical Technologist will provide support during surgical procedures by preparing and maintaining the sterile field, assisting the surgical team, and ensuring that all necessary instruments and supplies are available and functioning.

Qualifications

• Required Skills:
  • Experience in an operating room setting as a circulator
  • BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Able to fulfill rotating on-call requirements (a minimum of one night per week and one weekend every five-week schedule)
• Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in orthopedics, general surgery, gynecology, robotics, urology, vascular, cardiovascular, neuro, and thoracic procedures

Work Schedule

Rotating evening and weekend shifts will be required, with a minimum of one night and one weekend every five weeks.
