Mental Health Support Staff

Job Description

We are seeking experienced Mental Health Support Staff for a dynamic inpatient setting. The ideal candidates will provide critical support to the behavioral health team while engaging in patient care responsibilities without a direct patient load.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient rounds and observation duties.
• Monitor and provide constant observation for patients as needed.
• Participate in general patient care activities.
• Maintain accurate patient data entries and charting.
• Engage in kitchen duties and other assignments on the floor.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of experience in inpatient mental health or medical hospitalization settings.
• Must possess a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or Nursing Assistant Registered (NAR) certification.
• Valid Washington state license required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid certifications are mandatory.
• Completion of a de-escalation training certificate (Crisis Prevention Institute or Management of Assaultive Behavior).
• Food Handlers Permit required prior to start date (available online for minimal fee).

Skills

The successful candidate will have:

• Experience working in a behavioral health environment.
• Strong skills in general patient care and charting.

Patient Demographics

This position involves working with adult behavioral health patients aged 18 and above, including those who may be admitted involuntarily.

Work Environment

Our facility has 70 beds combined across two units, providing a supportive and structured environment. The staff-to-patient ratios are as follows:

• Nurse to Patient Ratio: Day & Evening – 1:11-12, Night – 1:17
• Patient to Tech Ratio: Day & Evening – 1:5, Night – 1:7

Support staff includes onsite hospitalists and supervisors, with receptionist assistance available.

This position is located in Seattle, WA.

Additional Information

Employees may float between units as required. Scrubs are permitted in any color except tan, or business professional attire.
